Student Services

q       Provides both academic and personal counselling

q       Counselors:  Focus on concerns and questions related to school, as well as issues related to life at home, friends, alcohol and drugs, death, suicide, and pregnancy

q       Social Worker:  Assists students experiencing serious personal problems and truancy

q       Community Health Nurse:  Available upon request

Other Guidance Services:

q       Orientation to new students, especially in Grade 9

q       Assistance in planning for post-secondary education

q       Information on scholarships and bursaries, including eligibility, application forms and deadline for applications

q       New student welcome program

q       Career counselling and information services

q       Testing services for interests and aptitudes

q       Assistance with the Choices computer career exploration program that helps students investigate career opportunities

q       Services provided in a classroom setting or individually

To contact guidance personnel:

q       Drop by the Guidance Office from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., between classes, at noon, after school until 4:00 p.m., or during unscheduled time

q       Make an appointment if the staff member is not available immediately

q       Make immediate contact in time of crisis
