Welcome to Ask A Scientist! Our service has been in operation since 1991. We have already compiled answers to more than 20,000 questions - and this site now receives more than nine million hits each month!
If you have a question, first check our Archives to see if it has been asked and answered before. Ask A Scientist includes Archives containing questions that our volunteer scientists have answered since our service began. And since 1991, questions have come from every country on the planet!
The periodic "law" of chemistry recognises that properties of the chemical elements are periodic functions of their atomic number (that is, the number of protons within the element's atomic nucleus). The periodic table is an arrangement of the chemical elements ordered by atomic number in columns (groups) and rows (periods) presented so as to emphasize their periodic properties.

Saskatchewan people will now be able to find climate change information more easily, understand climate change and learn what to do to lessen its effects. There are many links on this site for educators, along with some Mini-Units based on the Saskatchewan's K - Grade 12 Curriculum (although these units do not reflect the recent renewal of curricula).

The Center for Innovation in Science Learning (CISL) at The Franklin Institute is a premier center for science learning research, program development, and educational services. Choose "Curricular Companions" to show how Grade 4-8 teachers can integrate lessons like "Ecosystems", "Sound and Light", or "Introduction to Matter" into their unit plans. The topics do not follow the Saskatchewan Science Curriculum but you can find something at every level.
This site has been categorized by grade to make your search easier. The lessons are online based and weave nicely with the curriculum in both science and social studies.
