COMMON DISMISSAL DAY IS ON January 29, 2007 - NO SCHOOL
THEME: The theme for this month is UNITY. Each month as a St. Edward Community we work on building Christian Character. We will discover this month to practice unity. We will have opportunities to work and play together, opportunities to support each other and opportunities to help each other grow in positive ways.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION:
We are now accepting Registrations for our Kindergarten program. If you have a child that is 5 years old or will be 5 years old by Jan. 31 ,2008 please register with Mrs. Stromberg at St. Edward school or call 659-7300 with your intention to register. Please share this information with families who may not receive a school newsletter. Registrations should be in by Jan. 31st.
ST. EDWARD SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL: Invites our School Community to an informational Session on the Career Academy Concept being developed at E.D. Feehan High School. The Informational Evening will take place in conjunction with the School Community Council's February Mtg. on MONDAY, FEB. 5TH @ 7:30PM. in the school library. We are encouraging parents especially those with students in Grades 6,7,8 to attend. Students and other interested community members are also encouraged to attend. Superintendent Gord Martell and Administrators from E.D. Feehan will share information on the Career Academy and Future of E.D.Feehan. Refreshments will be available.
UNIVERSITY OF SASKATCHEWAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION STUDENTS CORE PROGRAM DONATION TO ST. EDWARD SCHOOL:
St. Edward School would like to thank the students from the College of Education (CORE) for their generous donation. Students from the College of Education have donated $1,500.00 to be used for programming and resources. Students from CORE will also spend time volunteering at St. Edwards.
On behalf of St. Edward School Community we extend a huge THANK YOU to this fine group of young adults for their generosity and community spirit.
BLIZZARD OF 2007: Thank you to staff, students, parents and community members for their assistance during the blizzard of 2207 on Jan. 11th. Our primary motivation was to ensure the safety of our students, staff and parents. A note of gratitude is also extend to all or you who "helped out" by phoning, giving others rides, pushing people out and generally being good neighbors and an exemplary community in a time of stress. It is what we are called to do. I am thankful that everyone got home safely.

COMMUNITY NEWS: 
If you have been baptized in the Catholic Church and have made your First Reconciliation (Confession) and received your First Eucharist (Holy Communion), you are now ready for the next step in your faith journey. For the next few years, as the Diocese moves toward "Restoring the Order of the Sacraments", the Parish will have two celebrations for Confirmation. One will be for those children in Grade 2 who will now receive the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation at the same celebration.***The other celebration will be for those who are in grades 5,6 and older who, having already received First Communion, will now receive only the Sacrament of Confirmation. We are inviting those students in Grades 5,6 and older who wolf like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation to register with the Parish @ 382-5503 by Jan. 19th, 07. The Parish - based p[reparation for this sacrament will likely begin at the end of Jan. Further information regarding dates of the Preparation will be forthcoming.
Parent to Parent: Keeping Healthy Families Healthy: The Saskatoon North Rotary Club invites you to attend this 8-hour parenting workshop. Steven Covey states “Begin with the end in mind". This course is all about learning how to keep your family healthy to build strong families and finding ways to improve or even validate your parenting. Does your family have a clear vision for success? What is your family mission statement? Find out more by attending this course. We will be offering this course again in March.

Holy Cross, Grade 8 visitation opportunities: Holy Cross is holding two events for students considering Holy Cross for Fall 2007. The visitation days will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 9:30 AM to 1:00PM ( Lunch provided ) and Friday, February 23 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM ( Lunch provided ). Students wishing to attend that are from outside our feeder system are asked to contact Debbie at Student Services (659–7609) to confirm attendance.
