Oskayak Girls Volleyball Team

Congratulations !!! The girls volleyball team placed third(bronze medal) in the Allan volleyball tournament on Saturday. The girls displayed great team spirit and volleyball skills. Tomorrow, they are off to Vonda for an exhibition game after school so wish them good luck.
Wednesday, Vonda will be visiting our school for a rematch after school in our gym. So come out and support the girls and cheer them on!

Oskayak Girls Volleyball Team Jerseys - Raffle tickets

Just a reminder the October 13th Masonary class will take place @ The Saskatoon Trades and Skills Center from 9:00 am -3:00 p.m. If transportation is needed contact Bobbie Jo @ 203-0172 and she will make arrangements. Congratulations to the following students Harvey Mercredi, Gerald Morin, Wyonna Umperville, Tricia Buffalo, Trina Moccasin, Kyle Black, Rozina Ermine who were selected for the program After participating in 10 classes, students will have the necessary training and knowledge in Masonary (bricklaying). Students will be able to enter the work force after the school year and secure a summer or full time/part time employment.

Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Project

Screen Shot 2011-10-11 at 12.27.32 AM.pngThis Wednesday, students at Oskayak will have the honor of a visit from former Prime Minister Paul Martin, as a launch of their participation in the Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Project, a Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative.  Oskayak high school has been chosen as a participant in the program who's goal  "is to encourage Aboriginal youth to stay in school where they can develop the attitudes, knowledge and skills necessary to achieve success in secondary school, postsecondary education or training, the workplace and daily life"  Check back for more news on this exciting program!

New School Social Worker Has Started!!!!

Traditional Beading During the lunch hour on Tuesdays @ Oskayak

Every Tuesday during the lunch we will be offering a Traditional Beading program in Room 211. Pick up your lunch and bring it upstairs to the classroom. Mary Lee will be guiding us and a few students will help facilitate beading projects they are skilled in. Come and check it out. Everyone welcome ! All skills levels encouraged to participate and share their expertise with fellow students. Presently we have started making earrings and will move on to other projects based on the students interests. (lighter cases, key chains, pens etc)

Employment Readiness and Job Opportunites

This is a six week after school program offered on Wednesdays starting October 5th. Meranda from the Saskatoon Trades and Skills Center will help facilitate the program. We will be starting out with employer/ job expectations, resume building, job search, mock interviews and how to apply for a job successfully and maintaining employment. Come and check it out if you are seriously looking for employment. Room.211 @ 3:10 p.m

Grade 12 Retreat

On Tuesday October 4th, 2011 the annual Grade 12 Retreat is planned at Shekinah Outdoor Retreat Center just north of town. Please be on time because a bus has been booked to depart around 9:30 a.m. The weather is cooperating so it will be a great time to relax,


enjoy and appreciate the outdoors. For lunch a wiener roast is planned with s'mores. Lot's of activities are planned so let's make an effort to attend and spend time to get to know one another. Any questions or concerns please come and see me.

A big Thank You to the Grade 12's and SRC members @ Oskayak

It was so nice to make a work schedule for the lunch and concession and have you show up with enthusiasm and a good work ethic.
