Students' Responsibilities and Deportment
Students who attend Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School must have a strong sense of self-discipline, self-respect, and realize that they have responsibilities to other members of the school community. Living up to these expectations will ensure that each student can derive the maximum benefit from the excellent program available at Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School.
Routines and appropriate student deportment are necessary if the activities of on-line students are to be productive. Thus the following expectations and fundamental principles of conduct are presented to guide students' behavior in the school:
SASKATOON CATHOLIC CYBER SCHOOL
This is the Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School home page where I work. It has some interesting information pertaining to the way we have approached online education.

Spell Checkers
Students still need to know how to spell...spell checkers are good but not flawless.
Owed to the Spell Checker
Eye halve a spelling checker
It came with my pea sea

Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Eye strike a key and type a word

Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My checker tolled me sew.
Screen Captures
I put together a group of screen captures from an Information Processing Course that I designed for grade 10. This in itself is a reflective process that I found very useful.
Communication
What makes online courses successful...communication. Webct supplies four main communication tools and many other tools that can be used to interact with your students. Here is a flash file that shows some of the interesting stuff you can do with these tools.
Variety
Online you are going to run into all the same students that you faced in a normal school. Variety is the spice of life...variety of students, variety of lesson styles and a variety of learning styles. I spent some time working my way through all this variety here is what I came up with...it was made using flash.
Teaching Principles
Do you know the seven principles of good teaching...well here they are and the webct tools that works with each. The application was made using flash.

Steps for Success
While figuring out how to use flash, I made a variety of files. This one is a Students Steps for Success, a little more active then a static text document. I have no idea the source for the content, I collected it from a variety of sources. I hope you like.
All the WebCT Tools
This is a flash file that I made to compare all the tools offered in Webct, teaching practices, and much much more...Check it out.

The following url is used on the student's MY WEBCT page to give them a link to the Netsmartz Teen website. We added it to the MY WEBCT by putting it in as an
administration announcement.
Netsmartz Teen Website
Welcome
This is the new webct high school users blog. The goal here is to share our success stories with others who have chosen to use WebCT as their delivery platform. The Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School has been using WebCT as it's learning platform since it's inception. The cyber school has 22 developer/teachers and over 600 students. Hope you enjoy the blog and feel free to add to it as well.
